About Rachel Mae

Rachel is a Professional Art Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist dedicated to supporting adults through individual psychotherapy and therapeutic groups. She sees therapy as a collaborative process, grounded in relationship.

With an Honours Bachelor of Science, an Art Psychotherapy Diploma, certification in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, and over 16 years of experience leading arts education and community engagement, she draws on a blend of clinical training and creative leadership in her practice. Rachel is a member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association, a mentor for the University of Toronto Department of Psychology, and an instructor and teaching assistant for the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy.

Art Therapy is Rachel’s second career. Her first 15 years of work included managing teams and designing impactful education and community engagement programs at organizations including Toronto Symphony Orchestra, TO Live, and Nova Dance.

Rachel has facilitated therapeutic art workshops with groups that bring a wide range of needs and experiences, including newcomers to Canada, people in supportive housing with lived experience of chronic homelessness, caregivers, and artists exploring creative care practices. Rachel develops and leads museum-based workshops that invite adults to access play, creativity, and meaningful engagement with art.

Mae & You Art Therapy is where Rachel offers individual art psychotherapy, creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental space. Sessions with Rachel provide support in addressing your needs, at your pace. She integrates multiple trauma-informed approaches including arts-based, somatic (body-based), talk therapy, and pain reprocessing, always prioritizing your safety and personal agency.

She works with those navigating a wide range of experiences including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, chronic pain, identity loss, creative block, stress, burnout, loneliness, or feeling stuck. Rachel’s practice is currently welcoming new adults seeking personalized and compassionate psychotherapy.
